OUR APPROACH · 6 OCTOBER 2026
Evidence first.
Honest about uncertainty.
Runova aims to make personal coaching evidence informed. This is our intended review process, not a completed literature review or a claim that the app has been clinically validated.
Review the whole picture
Before implementing training recommendations, we plan to review systematic reviews, meta-analyses, controlled studies, and relevant consensus statements. We’ll record search dates, sources, populations, outcomes, and limitations, and consider conflicting findings alongside established evidence.
Make recommendations explainable
Each coaching rule should identify its sources, assumptions, applicable runners, exceptions, and confidence. Researched findings, coaching conventions, and uncertain AI suggestions should be clearly distinguished. A new study alone should not silently change someone’s plan.
Understand the individual
Our research questions include returning after inactivity, reassessing current readiness, balancing intensity and recovery, and using feedback such as fatigue and perceived effort. We’ll also investigate wearable limitations and when plan adjustments are useful.
Test before expanding
We plan to evaluate realistic scenarios, including training breaks, missed sessions, and changing schedules, and seek qualified coaching or sports-science review before a broader launch.
Keep the claims realistic
Runova cannot guarantee performance or prevent injury. We won’t assume one weekly progression rule suits every runner. The product should explain uncertainty and support your choices. Pain or concerning symptoms need appropriate professional assessment, not an AI diagnosis.
This process will be documented and revisited before material coaching changes as Runova develops.
